Background Screening Policy
The Background Screening Policy is in place to set forth requirements pertaining to appropriate background screening
Mandatory Reporting Policy
The Mandatory Reporting Policy requires any Covered Adult with reasonable cause to believe that a child has been abused or neglected must report those concerns immediately, and sets the mechanisms for reporting.
Training and Education Policy
The Training and Education policy requires Covered participants to comply with the US Center for SafeSport requirements regarding abuse prevention training.
Prohibited Conduct Policy
NJ Youth Soccer’s Prohibited Conduct Policy applies to all Covered Adults and Minor Participants and imposes requirements for reporting misconduct as dictated by the Safe Sport Act, the Safe Sport Code, and U.S. Soccer policy.
Policy to Limit One-on-One Interactions
The Policy to Limit One-on-One interactions is required by US Soccer policy, and exists to define appropriate interactions with minor athletes from Covered Adults.
Policy on Monitoring and Enforcement
NJYS’s Policy on Monitoring and Enforcement is set forth to establish procedures for monitoring
and enforcing the Policies, as well as to establish an appropriate grievance process to address allegations of misconduct following the report or
complaint of misconduct.
Model Safe Soccer Policies
The NJYS Risk Management and Participant Safety Program provides the required components of US Soccer’s Policy 212-3, which also applies to Member Club and Leagues. Organizations may use these model policies exactly as they are, or they may build off them as they see fit for their specific organization.
US Soccer Policy 531-9 Misconduct Toward Game Officials
US Soccer has a long standing policy regarding Misconduct Toward Game Officials, specifically defining Referee Abuse and Referee Assault. The NJYS Discipline & Appeals Committee has jurisdiction over matters concerning Policy 531-9.
