Initial Pool Selection
All Age Groups

The tryouts for the Initial Pools for all age groups, both boys and girls, will be held on the first two weekends in August 2008.  Tryout fee is $30 and every player will receive a t-shirt.  Players must participate in their birth year only - positively no playing up.  All tryouts will be held at Friendship Fields, Bordentown, NJ [Directions].  Players are encouraged to pre-register, click here for a registration form.  Registration for each Open Tryout will begin 30 minutes before each tryout. Click on the age group you are interested in to find specific times and dates for the tryouts.  A player may attend any open tryout. 

Call back tryouts for the 1995 and 1996 age groups are for players who have been selected in a previous open tryout.  The tryout shirt number of those players invited back for the call back tryouts will be posted on this website, Tuesday,  August 5, 2008.  Only those players invited back can attend a call back tryout.  The 1996 and 1995 pools are divided geographically.  The Upper Pool is for those players living in the North and Central areas and the Lower Pool is for those players living in the Shore and South Areas.

Every player must attend at least one open tryout but is encouraged to attend all open tryouts for their age group.  Players will be evaluated on their performance at all the tryouts they attend.  Players will not be given a waiver for injury or illness.  A player who cannot attend at least one of the open tryouts is ineligible for the ODP program for the rest of the year.

The Initial Pool consisting of a maximum of 35 players for each age group will be selected.  However, returning players who were selected for the 2007-2008 Region I Pools are automatically placed in the Initial Pools.  This will limit the number of available positions in each pool. 

All players who are selected for the Initial Pool will be sent a written letter and a set of forms that will have to be completed and submitted to NJYS for the player to continue in the ODP program.  These forms will include a medical release, a Code of Conduct form, and a player profile form.  Receipt of these forms does not indicate that the player has been selected for the Final State Pool, but are required for the player to continue in the selection process.

From September 2008 through March 2009, events will be scheduled for specific age groups.  Players will be contacted individually if an event is scheduled.
