Requesting a Coaching Schools Course
NJYS coaching school courses are available to representatives of affiliated clubs within New Jersey Youth Soccer. Any affiliated club may request to host a course. If your club would like to host a License Course, please complete the License Request Form and submit it to the NJYS office. DOC or PDF We need a minimum of a 60 day advance notice to schedule a course.
The minimum number of registrants for a course is 20. Courses will not be conducted with less than 20 people in attendance. The maximum number of students is 40. If you have more than 40 prospective students, we will work with you to set up additional courses. The request to host a course must also include an Emergency Action Plan, which must include and not be limited to the cell phone number of the course host or a club representative and who we need to contact if a site suddenly closes down or we are told we have to leave. Each facility must have access to bathroom facilities.
Courses are publicized by NJYS through listings on our website. For State "F" license courses, all candidates will register online using a link provided in our online course schedule. The host will receive this link to give to their club's/organization's coaches 5-7 days prior to the Open Enrollment Date to register for the course- in other words, your people will have 5-7 days to register for the course otherwise they will have to go through Open Enrollment like the rest of the public. Open Enrollment- Your course will be publicized on our web site beginning about 1 month prior to the first session of the course. Course Open Enrollment registration will close 5 days prior to the session of the course or when the course has reached its maximum enrollment, which ever comes first.
Candidates for all National "E" and "D" license courses will be submit their registration form to the NJYS Office. The local host may publicize a course through an informational mailing; however, course information combined with advertising or publicity for commercial ventures (camps, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
Because there are both lecture and practical sessions in every course, a room with comfortable seating and a large chalkboard must be available. Also, either an indoor or outdoor area of sufficient size to conduct activities is required. Recommended indoor facilities are gymnasiums with bleachers. The size of the gym for the "F" course can be similar to those found in an elementary school. For the "E" or "D" course, a middle school or high school gym is suggested. Of course, a soccer field with a good surface is excellent during warmer months. The reservation of a gymnasium to be used in case of inclement weather is necessary. The use of small indoor spaces such as elementary school all-purpose rooms is discouraged.
A Host Club requesting a course must give us a minimum of 2 months before the start of the "E" or "D" License Course. Request to host a course must also include an Emergency Action Plan, which must include and not be limited too the cell phone number of the course host or a club representative and who we need to contact if a site suddenly closes down or we are told we have to leave. Hosts who file a request will be required to obtain-- BEFORE requesting course--a full size regulation size soccer field complete with full size goals, nets and field lined, AND a HS size gym in the event of foul weather--there MUST be access to Bathroom facilities
