National "E" Level Coaching License Time: 18 hours
Cost of the National 'E' Course will be $110 per student.
Only students from affiliated NJYS clubs can participate in the courses.
Recommended for coaching players 9-12 years old, the first level of state hosted National Courses where a coach must be able to physically demonstrate (playing ability is not graded), and pass a set of criteria to obtain the License Certificate.
Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this course.
The NJYS National 'E' license course does not meet the requirements of the State of New Jersey Coaches Civil Liability Immunity law. To hold a NJYS Coaches pass, a coach must either hold a NJYS State "F" License OR a Rutgers Safety Council certificate AND a US Soccer Federation recognized license.
In this age group, the philosophy is devoted to refining the player's technical abilities under game conditions: match- related exercises, pressure from opponents, limited time and space. The "E" is for Coaches of 9-12 Year old Players. Basic tactics are taught at the individual and small group levels (up to 6v6), as well as basic principles of attack and defense: creating space, mobility, width, height, support, team shape, etc. Also information on Team Management and Risk Management will be discussed. Candidates must complete a series of precourse assignments and practice field sessions are evaluated. There is no required waiting period between the NJYS State "F" and the National "E" License. The minimum age requirement for taking the National "E" License course is 14 years old. Candidates who take the National "E" license course and are under the age of 18 will not receive a NJYS Coaches Pass until they are 18 years old and have completed the State "F" License Course or Rutger's SAFETY Clinic. They can obtain a Youth Trainers Pass.

At the National "E" Course, candidates are assessed through written precourse assignments AND a practical on the field. Candidates who complete the requirements of the National "E" course and receive a (P)ass will be eligible to enroll in the "D" (after a period of 6 months).
Note: The purpose of the waiting period is to allow those coaches who chose to move on and take the "D", ample time to practice and apply the ideas and information learned in the National "E" and previous coaching education courses.
Candidates who enroll in the National "E" License Course, upon acceptance of their application will recieve the Candidate Guidebook and set of topics to prepare lesson plans for the on field evaluations. Candidates should use the lesson plans and topics in the manual and implement the practices with their teams/players prior to the course.
When you sign up and register to take a National "E" Course, you must complete the entire course at the site as scheduled. In order to receive the License Certificate, you cannot start the course on a Friday at one location and complete the other sessions at another location.

If you would like attend a course, download the application form and submit the form, fee and the above precourse assignements to the NJYS office. This course is an 18 hour course at a cost of $110 per student for members of New Jersey Youth Soccer.
Candidates who plan on attending the National E License Course should also download the following documents and read before the first class room session.
